• Last week, on Monday 27th June, Red Hat’s DevNation began. I was privileged enough to be on stage during the Keynote, joining Tomitribe’s Theresa Nguyen, IBM’s Alasdair Nottingham, the London Java Community’s Martijn Verburg and Red Hat’s Mark Little, as we announced a joint venture in MicroProfile.io.

• I’m a big fan of using the terminal over using a GUI. Ostensibly, that’s because it tends to be more efficient to avoid reaching for the mouse so often, and to script as much as possible. In reality, this results in an excessive amount of time spent in configuring, reconfiguring, changing colourschemes and generally fiddling with useless settings when I could be getting things done.

• I’ve been gradually integrating Vagrant into my workflow for a while now. I love how it gives me the chance to try something totally new out in a completely separated environment that I can then just bin if I get it all wrong and I know that nothing in my host system has been contaminated. Docker can acheive basically the same thing, but Vagrant fits my workflow very well.

• I’ve been thinking of writing a personal blog for a long time now, but have never found the time. I’ve never been a particularly prolific blogger and things like this are usually the first to fall by the wayside when things get busy.
